BEGINNING WARP PAINTING 1 day workshop
A brief overview of color theory, mostly discussion of the value scale and application to dyeing, begins this workshop. Students then learn to mix chemical water and dyestocks from powdered dyes. Students will paint a minimum of two cellulose warps. Different application techniques will be taught, and both steaming and batching of dyed warps will be utilized. Students will receive detailed handouts so they can duplicate their experience at home. Students should come prepared with two warps to dye: 100% cotton, rayon or silk. Materials fee covers all chemicals used in class, price to be determined. Class size limit: 16 Aide required.
Room requirements…. A room with adequate ventilation is a must. Chalkboard, chalk, running water, stove are required. Each student needs a minimum 6-foot long table to work on. Easy access to electrical outlets and at least 4 6-foot extension cords. There is a lengthy required materials list, which will be provided to students upon confirmation of attendance in the class.
FEE STRUCTURE STANDARD FEES: Workshops - $380.00 per day, 6 teaching hours per day. ½ days of 3 or less hours billed at a flat $200.00. In addition, all ground/air transportation, parking fees, air travel, room, board and shipping of materials to and from venue are to be covered at cost. Air travel will commence from Chicago O’Hare International Airport to destination, with return to same. Car travel billed at $.0.50 per mile, round trip, PLUS all gasoline costs round trip, plus all tolls incurred.
LECTURE FEES: Lectures are billed at $250.00 each. Venue must supply screen. Microphone, if necessary, shall be supplied by venue.

Current all day parking fees at O’Hare, in the outermost, hence least expensive, lot are $32.00 per day. I expect that will increase.
