BEGINNING WEAVE DRAFTING

1-3 day workshop

Students will learn the basics of weave drafting on graph paper and then weave what they have drafted.  This helps encourage a relationship between the printed draft and the structure of the woven cloth.  Students will end up with a sample notebook of many of their designs, have a good foundation in pattern drafting and get the experience of weaving what they design!   Students will arrive at the workshop with a functioning 4 or 8 shaft loom warped to teacher specifications. (Table looms are preferred for this class!)

Beginner and beyond.  Class size limit: 15.  Materials fee will cover handout and record sheets and some graph paper, and will be determined prior to printing of registration booklet.  Materials list will be sent to students upon registration.

Room requirements:  One 6 foot table per student.  If students bring floor looms, we will need space to set those up as well.  Chalkboard, chalk and eraser would be MUCH better than paper and pen, but either will work.  Screen and digital projecter.    Access to electrical outlets for work lamps students may choose to bring.  One 6 foot table for teacher.

FEE STRUCTURE

STANDARD FEES:  Workshops - $380.00 per day, 6 teaching hours per day.  ½ days of 3 or less hours billed at a flat $200.00.    In addition, all ground/air transportation, parking fees, air travel, room, board and shipping of materials to and from venue are to be covered at cost.  Air travel will commence from Chicago O’Hare International Airport to destination, with return to same.  Car travel billed at $.0.50 per mile, round trip, PLUS all gasoline costs round trip, plus all tolls incurred.

Estimated transportation expenses (i.e. current lowest fare)

Current all day parking fees at O’Hare, in the outermost, hence least expensive, lot are $32.00 per day.  I expect that will increase.
