SURFACE DESIGN FOR HANDWEAVERS

3 or 5 day workshop, 1.5 hr lecture

Working with 100% cotton cloth or participants own cotton handwoven fabrics, we will learn to dye, embellish, screen, print, stamp and foil the surface of the cloth. (Not all techniques will be taught at the 2 day version)  All techniques are applicable to handwoven fabrics and discussion and demonstration of the subtle differences in technique from commercially woven to handwoven fabrics will be thorough.  (5 day workshop includes loom-woven Shibori and devore)

Materials fee will cover all dyes and chemicals, paints, etc,  as well as some of the materials that are more difficult for students to find and will be finalized with workshop coordinator at time of contract.  An extensive materials list will be sent to students upon confirmation of registration in the workshop.  Materials fee will be determined at time of purchase of dyes and chemicals, and can run upwards of $50.00-$60.00 per student.   Materials fee is in addition to extensive supplies students shall provide for use in class.
